Italy – Ships Log (Day 12)

3rd September 2012

Location: Amgelia

Destination: Portovenere

Travel Distance: Approx 12nm

We tentatively pointed Mojo in the direction of Portovenere this morning, and headed for Portovenere as we wanted to lunch there – it was overcast and threatening rain, so no problem in getting a mooring – went into a restaurant and knew it was a mistake from the start – too stuffy, the waiter could not be bothered and it was plagued with wasps and flies. Once the huge starters had arrived, it poured down – Shaun ran out to put Mojos engine lid down whilst the waiter and I moved everything inside…. We had managed to have a look around at the church and watched a swimming contest making its way around Palmeira, but sensing that the wind was shifting to southerly, we headed back to Bocca Di Magra…. Once we had crossed the Bay of La Spezia, it was fabulous weather! We moored up and enjoyed the sun until the wind picked up and we moved back in. A surprisingly nice afternoon.
